Afraid

Do not be afraid,
The angels say.

Of what?
God?
Hell?
What everyone else will think?
That no-one else will get this?

Do not be afraid,
The angels say,
Which is easy for them.

I try to let their voices,
Drown out the shouts of exclusion or eternal damnation
And my own whispered dread of getting life or faith or god
Wrong

If only they had also said
And do not make another afraid.
