Bandy conference worship

Welcome to those who have come here looking for stuff after the Bandy conference…

Friday morning

This is a pdf of the liturgy for Friday’s worship

For visual stuff, we used this animation, Vanity, (swf file, 60 kb) of the Ecclesiastes reading, and two separate clips from the movie Baraka – a time lapse clip of sky for the “Way, way before time” reading, and a clip towards the end of the movie of people of different faiths worshipping (this showed during the stations).

The music was taken from the CD Ordo, from the Church of the Apostles, from Lou Rhodes’ CD, Beloved One, and King Britt’s CD King Britt Presents Sister Gertrude. The tracks are listed on the pdf.

The stations are described here.

If you want to know anything else, feel free to email me…

Friday midday

We used the meditation “Slow”, written by Steve Collins, which can be found here

This was read over a video that no longer seems to be available on the internet… email me if you’d like a copy and i’ll find a way to get it to you.

Saturday morning

This is a pdf of the liturgy for worship on Saturday

We used the video clip of the song Glosoli, from the band Sigur Ros – this is a quicktime file.

The music was the track “Invocation” from the CD Ordo, from the Church of the Apostles, the track “Song for Olabi”, from the CD by Bliss called Quiet Letters. We finished with the song “The Day after the Revolution” from the CD This is Hardcore, by Pulp.
Saturday midday

This meditation was spoken over the third part of the video “We Have Decided Not To Die”, available on the onedotzero_select dvd 4, available here.

We have decided not to die.

We have decided not to believe the voices of cynicism
the prophets of doom
the harbingers of despair
the proclaimers of fear
who speak loudly and only of death that’s inevitable.

we have decided not to die.

we have chosen to believe in life.

and now we must learn to live.

The LORD said: Forget what happened long ago! Don’t think about the past. I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands. Every wild animal honors me, even jackals and owls. I provide water in deserts– streams in thirsty lands for my chosen people. I made them my own nation, so they would praise me. I, the LORD, said to Israel: You have become weary, but not from worshiping me…

We have decided not to die.

and now we must learn to live.

to really live
to stretch and wonder and test and dare
to imagine the unthinkable
to defy the gravity of fear and despair
to find the faith that believes there is another story
of life, grace and redemption
and to live as though it is the only story.

we will listen for where God’s heartbeat is giving life to the world
and we will search,
wildly, unceasingly
until we find where our own heartbeat echoes in it.

and though it may mean letting go of all we know,
we will.

for we have decided not to die.

we have decided now to live.
