a gathering for Sunday 29th, when I’m in the prison:
We gather in the aftermath
of Christmas
to pray for the miracles that the world is still waiting for:
we gather in faith
that from ripped up wrapping paper
and torn up dreams,
God can build a world that keeps hope alive
we gather in faith
that from the Christmas leftovers
and our remaining scraps of goodwill
God can make a world of justice for all
we gather in faith
that among the discarded presents
and the faded declarations of love
we will find a place where all will know home.
Welcome to worship
where we practice the love, hope and joy of Christmas
in the faith they will become real in our world.
