Our memories of the people
who make up the story of our life
are constructed from fragments of reality and imagination.
And those memories become the canvas on which we will create all future memories.
In honour of the flawed, broken beliefs we have about ourselves
and each other
that in turn create our fragmented memories of life,
stick together some pieces of the crockery.
Let the re-created remnants
– fragile, awkward,
not fitting together well,
and with all their cracks and holes –
be our confession that our memories
is never all there is to their story
and our prayer that we might know
that it’s not enough.
