There’s much to be thought on after the Futurechurch conference in Auckland… i won’t post about it specifically, but i imagine that various things will permeate through in other posts.
I will just say that the most valuable parts were the conversations, both deliberate and unintentional, in the in-between spaces of the conference – the meal breaks, late night drinks, happy hour, skipped workshops… And the parts of those conversations that were most helpful were when people were reflecting on their own lived experience, and teasing it apart. I’ve long known that the primary thing i need from a conference is a framework for those encounters. This one did that well.
And i think a one-liner at Cityside on sunday morning may have given the backbone for Advent stuff this year – it’s from the Message: "The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood".
